Joint Commission Accreditation
Heartview Foundation is accredited by the Joint Commission and has received the “Gold Seal of Approval.” Founded in 1951, the Joint Commission is the leading health care accrediting body in the world, evaluating and accrediting nearly 19,000 health care organizations in the United States. The Joint Commission assembles groups of expert doctors, nurses, and representatives of national health care organizations to develop the standards an organization must meet to become accredited. These standards, numbering in the hundreds, require an organization to meet the highest and most rigorous performance standards in the industry.
Achieving accreditation for Heartview involved the process of evaluating, and subsequently improving, our programs and services in accordance with the Joint Commission standards for Behavioral Health Care. Areas evaluated and improved included residential and outpatient care, patient rights, patient records, infection prevention, emergency management, human resources, leadership, information management, life safety, national patient safety goals, medication management, environment of care and laboratory testing.
After this process was completed, an expert from the Joint Commission visited Heartview for a 3-day, comprehensive, on-site review. The surveyor thoroughly studied the areas noted above and Heartview was awarded full accreditation. Services must continue to be monitored and evaluated by the Joint Commission on an ongoing basis in order to maintain accreditation.
This voluntary process provides Heartview with continuous access to the experts at the Joint Commission and represents Heartview’s commitment to excellence. By achieving and maintaining accreditation, Heartview has made a public commitment to provide the highest international standards of care for our patients and their families.
