From The Executive Director

It is with great excitement that I write about our Reunion 2010! What a fabulous weekend. I had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the events, speakers and fellowship. The turnout was more than I expected (140+) and the participants in this year’s reunion really reflected a melding of old and new alumni.
I also am excited to declare a commitment to have an annual reunion and to announce next year’s reunion dates of July 29, 30 and 31. I am convinced that next year’s reunion will be even better. We are already looking for a location and discussing how we can utilize our future remodeled space.
Heartview Foundation’s mission is “to be the provider of choice for quality chemical dependency treatment and education.” I believe this not only includes our future patients but also our alumni. This is the sole reason for our existence.
So, it is through our mission that we will begin to arrange the building blocks for a robust and re-energized alumni network. This includes the annual reunion, alumni association, the Recovery Social Network (see article), volunteers, recovery coaches and peer mentoring services.
We all know the Power of recovery and we should not underestimate the Power that a vibrant alumni network can offer. I believe I am guilty of underutilizing this Power. I ask for your forgiveness and I ask for your willingness to bring this Power to bear on the chronic illness of addiction and for the benefit of our future patients.
We need your help! I have outlined some ways you can help within the articles of this newsletter.
