September is National Recovery Month and addiction advocates predict 100,000 people will participate in recovery events throughout the nation. North Dakota Governor Hoeven recognized recovery month by signing a proclamation that signifies his support for individuals and family members recovering from addiction disorders.
Locally, the Heartview Foundation and others will be sponsoring a recovery event on September 7, 2010. The event, “Recovery Rocks” will begin at 6pm at the North Dakota State Capitol where a celebration walk will commence. The walk will proceed down 5th Street to the Ramkota Hotel. Free t-shirts will be available for the first 200 walkers. The celebration will continue at the hotel with fellowship and music by the band, “Fully Loaded.”
Shuttle Service will be available to return anyone to the Capitol to retrieve their vehicle. This event is open to anyone in recovery, family members, or those that support recovery efforts.

Christy recently joined the Heartview staff as an addiction counselor in the day treatment program. “We are excited about the leadership she will bring to our organization,” said Snyder. “She is not only an experienced counselor, but also someone with great knowledge of current advancements in the addiction field on both the state and national levels. She will bring leadership and enthusiasm as we move into the new era of healthcare reform.”
