Heartview Receives Recovery Coach Program Grant
Posted 5/29/12 (Tue)
Heartview Foundation was recently awarded a grant to enhance its Recovery Coach Program. Recovery/Life coaching is an exciting model being actively developed in many parts of the country. Prior to the recent inception of Heartview’s program, this concept was not yet available in North Dakota or the surrounding region.
Heartview’s Recovery/Life Coaches are paid part-time paraprofessionals, in contrast to an unpaid AA or NA sponsor. Each coach is given a small caseload of Heartview patients who have completed treatment. The coaches assist their patient in developing essential life skills such as finding employment, or building relationships. Coaches also model appropriate behaviors and help the patient
This generous grant was given by the Otto Bremer Foundation. Established in 1944, the Foundation has as its mission to assist people in achieving full economic, civic and social participation in and for the betterment of their communities. This mission is based upon the intent of founder Otto Bremer, to help build healthy, vibrant communities – communities where basic needs are met, mutual regard is prized, and opportunities for economic, civic, and social participation in and for the betterment of their communities.
