Ron Gerhardt, LAC, an addiction counselor at Heartview beginning in 1972, was surprised at Heartview’s reunion banquet with a great honor. Keynote speaker Mickey G., a former Heartview patient whose life was deeply impacted by Ron in the 1970s, presented Heartview with seed money for the “Ron Gerhardt Honorary Fund.”
Executive Director Kurt Snyder describes Ron by saying, “Since Ron started his career at Heartview, he has touched the lives of hundreds of patients. The ripple effect to their families and communities is beyond description. Every day, I am in awe of Ron’s ability to connect with people and help them move beyond the pain of addiction. He is a gifted counselor and a remarkable human being.”
This fund will be used to directly help patients with needs such as childcare and transportation, or individual needs like clothing, a warm jacket, glasses, or maybe even a bicycle. “Having funds available to help a hurting person attend treatment, is cause for great celebration here at Heartview. I expect to personally witness many tears dried as a result of the generosity of Mickey G. and others,” says Snyder
