Major Building Renovation Planned

Posted 8/04/10 (Wed)

Heartview is gearing up for a building renovation project. After the remodel of the Residential Unit in 2007, Heartview has been waiting to make some necessary changes to the rest of the building. The Heartview Foundation Board of Directors recently gave the go-ahead to finalize the renovation plans and begin construction in September of 2010.

The most exciting part of the change involves moving the public access of the building to the south side of the facility, off the parking lot. Changing the entrance location will eliminate the confusion the public experiences when entering the facility for the first time. Walking through this door, and in to treatment, is very difficult for many patients and families, and it needs to be special and welcoming.

Changes are also planned for the layout of the building creating a larger space for Open AA meetings, community educational programs, and future reunions. New specimen collection rooms for drug testing will be built, and bathrooms will be upgraded. Other changes in the building layout will result in more patient and family privacy along with better workflow and efficiency of service delivery.

The renovation is possible in large part due to a generous gift of $140,000 from the Tom and Frances Leach Foundation. Through this grant, Heartview patients, families, and the public will enter a confidential, efficient, fresh environment.
