Heartview Foundation believes in a holistic approach to treatment. In order to give patients other avenues to express themselves, supplementary services are provided for primary care patients (Residential, Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient/Day).
You will be given the opportunity to participate in weekly Yoga sessions provided by a certified Yoga instructor. The purpose of these sessions is to promote your physical well-being through a series of stretching exercises, and to teach you physical and mental relaxation techniques.
Participation in this service is optional. Acupuncture is provided by a licensed chiropractor for the purpose of aiding in relaxation and to lessen cravings. You may also opt for only a shoulder massage and meditation.
Prior to entering treatment, the leisure time of those addicted to alcohol/drugs has mostly centered around substance use. For many, this will be the first time that art, as a leisure activity, has been explored. According to the 1997 publication, ART WORKS!, supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, “The arts are a high-touch, non-threatening intervention that has produced measurable results, including accelerated reduction of psychopathology, reduced violence and drug use rates, reduced recidivism, improved educational performance, and increased self-esteem.
