Every one of Heartview’s patients is someone’s child. Whether or not their family is still involved in their life, Heartview strives to show its patients that they are important and worthy.
Mother's Day is a day to celebrate and honor the love, devotion, and selflessness of all mothers. However, for mothers whose children are struggling with substance abuse, this day can be particularly challenging. It can be heartbreaking to watch your child struggle with addiction, and it's easy to feel helpless and alone in the fight against this disease. If this describes you, you are not alone, and your unwavering love and support can make a significant difference in your child's recovery journey.
It's crucial to understand that addiction is a disease that affects not only the person struggling with it but also their loved ones. It's essential to let go of any guilt or shame you may feel and focus on the present and the future.
As a mother, your love and support are critical to your child's recovery. You can be the anchor that keeps them grounded in their journey towards sobriety. You can provide a safe and supportive environment for them to heal and grow. This may involve tough love, setting boundaries, and holding them accountable for their actions. But it also means showing them empathy, understanding, and forgiveness.
Remember that addiction is a chronic disease, and recovery is a long and challenging journey. It's not a linear process, and there may be setbacks and relapses along the way.
Heartview is in the process of restarting its H.E.A.R.T. (Helping Everyone Achieve Recovery Today) family program. Designed for individuals and families in recovery from alcohol or drug addiction, H.E.A.R.T. is a confidential support group which will be meeting Monday evenings. The purpose of H.E.A.R.T is to enhance the knowledge and skills of families as they journey through recovery and provide ongoing support and guidance.
H.E.A.R.T is open to the public and is free of charge. Whether the individuals entered recovery on their own, through AA/NA or through treatment at a facility; all are welcome. One is not required to have any affiliation with Heartview in order to attend the H.E.A.R.T program.
