What to Expect

Taking the first step towards recovery can be scary. Nonjudgmental, supportive Heartview staff are here to walk you through the process and answer all of your questions about treatment types, wait times, insurance, and available payment programs,

INPATIENT SERVICES/UNSURE- Call Heartview’s intake office at 701-751-6129. Intake office staff are often on the phone and may not be able to answer immediately. Please leave a voicemail and include:
  • First and Last Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Telephone Number

Compassionate intake department staff will do an initial interview and find out more about you and your individual needs. After this phone call, next steps will be determined, which may include being recommended for a residential treatment bed or asked to come in and receive an evaluation for outpatient treatment during walk-in hours. If you have insurance they will discuss coverage and if you do not have insurance they will begin the process of applying for Medicaid or the Substance Use Disorder voucher coverage.

OUTPATIENT SERVICES ONLY- Come to Heartview's outpatient evaluation walk-in services at 101 E Broadway, Bismarck, Monday through Thursday, from 8-10 a.m. Please note, due to increased demand and staffing limitations, only a few evaluation slots may be available each day. Please be patient with our staff and other people waiting.

Individuals who are not interested in residential treatment can directly see a counselor for a treatment recommendation. No appointment is needed, but the number of patients able to be served each day depends on staff availability. This in-person session lasts approximately two to four hours. You will discuss your history of substance use and other personal information to receive accurate and appropriate treatment recommendations. You will be asked to take a drug test and breathalyzer. Depending on your medical history, you may have a physical examination with Heartview’s nursing staff. After this appointment, the counselor will meet with other members of the team to determine an individualized treatment plan.
