The countdown to Giving Hearts Day 2026 has begun, and Early Giving is now open! From Jan. 12 until Feb. 12, you can make a significant impact by donating to Heartview, a leading substance use treatment center in North Dakota. This early giving period allows you to contribute to the important work we do at Heartview, providing essential support to those struggling with substance use disorders.
What is Giving Hearts Day?
· A 24-hour fundraising event for charities in North Dakota and northwest Minnesota.
· In 2025, the event raised $30 million through business and individual donations.
· Donations are matched by local businesses and individuals, “doubling” your donation.
How Will My Early Giving Donation Be Used?
Dickinson- “Project Open Skies”- Heartview Dickinson will use funds raised for Giving Hearts Day to create an outdoor area for patients. On average, a patient stays at Heartview Dickinson for 28 days. The residential treatment facility is located on the 4th floor of the old hospital and does not have outdoor access. Patients can only go outside when a staff member supervises a large group. Spending time outdoors can reduce stress, anxiety and depression symptoms, all of which are common in substance use patients. Heartview’s 4th floor location has direct access to an outside space on the building’s roof. In order for patients to use the space, safety improvements need to be made, including installing safety guards and patio flooring.
Cando- Donations to Heartview Cando help make recovery possible by supporting access to treatment and addressing practical needs that can stand in the way of progress. Gifts are used to help patients access care, provide transportation to treatment and appointments, and supply basic necessities such as hygiene items, socks, and other essentials.
Bismarck- “Expand the Opioid Treatment Program”- In 2021, Heartview had approximately 150 OTP patients. Due to the opioid crisis, as of Jan. 2026, that number has skyrocketed to 300, with 100 patients entering the clinic every day. Construction is underway on the small OTP clinic to expand the space, but we need the community’s help to finish Phase 3 of the project. The final project includes a larger waiting room and two private dosing rooms to better protect patient confidentiality.
